Changing an item number does not change the item number in the shop or portal and Vendisto. Changing item numbers in Exact Online is not without consequences when using Shoxl. In Shoxl, item numbers are unique identifiers. If you change them in Exact Online, Shoxl cannot match them to the existing items. As a result, new items are created in Shoxl and the originals are removed.
Additionally, due to limitations in the Exact Online API—specifically, inconsistent handling of mutation dates—such changes can disrupt various parts of the system. This includes gross pricing, price list pricing, customer-specific pricing, surcharges, stock levels, and bills of materials.
If changing item numbers is absolutely necessary, we recommend doing so in a single batch and informing our support team beforehand. In that case, a full manual synchronization from Shoxl will be required to ensure the data remains consistent.
We’ve seen issues in the past caused by item number changes, so we strongly advise avoiding this unless it is essential. Repeated changes without coordination will continue to cause disruptions in the synchronization process.
